The bust line holds Sarah Hollebon’s signature asymmetric style. It’s important for us all to know that someone’s tools for coping with their mental health might not be the same as someone else’s, and that is okay. Sometimes we need to test out new methods and tools in order to find the ones that suit us best.
Meridian lines, the energy network of the body, conditions our overall existence; how we think, how we feel, and how our body moves. From the top to the bottom of the dress, the floral panel flows outwards, inwards, and back outwards, visually mirroring the meridian energy that transports around our body.
Hand stitched cotton thread is used in the process of constructing a garment. These hand stitches have been left on the garment to emphasise, we are all a work in progress. Seeking contentment, peace, and joy is an ongoing practice, whether that be found through meditation, yoga, or mindfulness.
The ribbon weaves throughout to create a strap which then supports the dress and person wearing it. The straps weave together representing how important it is to have a supportive network around you, whether it consists of a close friend, family member, or a professional.
