Mental Health and Textiles
Sarah’s offering is a fun and engaging textiles and mental health workshop with the opportunity for the children to explore textiles as a way of expressing their thoughts and feelings.
The workshop starts off with Sarah introducing what mental health is and the different type of emotions we all experience day to day. Sarah then shares examples of her own work and how it links with mental health.
A textiles activity then takes place where Sarah asks the children a question “Think of an emotion you have experienced recently. What would that look like in the form of a drawing?"
The children will have embroidery threads and fabric pens to interpret their emotions on the piece of fabric, drawing what comes to their mind when thinking of this question.
Sarah can then create a unique and special garment using the children's artwork from the workshop for the school to showcase and keep permanently.
Fabric markers, fabric, needles, and embroidery threads are included. Workshop is 1.5 hours long. Sarah can travel anywhere in the UK.
